The Black and Gold gave us all something to be thankful for this Crewsgiving with a 2-nil defeat of Toronto FC on opening day. Goals from Federico Higuain and Gysai Zardes gave Columbus it’s first Crewsgiving win since 2014. While not flawless, it was still a dominating performance from Columbus against the defending MLS Cup champions. The win extends Columbus’ regular season unbeaten streak to 11 games, dating back to a 3-1 win against Bridgeview August 12, 2017.
And now, it’s the most wonderful time of the year…CREWSMAS!!!! The Black and Gold take on Canada part Deux, Saturday March 10th at 1pm. Tickets for the Nordecke are on the store, but there are only a few tickets left.
This week is a big week for Crew Supporters and there is a whole lot going on to get you ready for the game.
Thursday March 8th at King Avenue 5 at 6pm, #SaveTheCrew will hold a special happy hour to provide the first glimpse of the jersey designed especially for the grassroots movement of Columbus soccer. There have been several reveals over the last few weeks, but this is your first opportunity to see the design in full. Plus it’s just a great reason to come out and have a beer with your fellow Save The Crew community members to warm up for Crewsmas. Full event details and registration are available HERE.
Friday March 9th from at 7pm to 10pm at 4th Street Bar and Grill, Crew Union will host it’s 11th annual Crewsmas Eve Party. Crewsmas Eve began as an informal gathering of friends the night before the Crew’s first home game. 11 years later, and in it’s 7th year at Fourth Street Bar, it’s an official event of Crew Union and even recognized by the club. Old friends reminisce and new friends are made in a joyous celebration of the new Crew season. The Crewsmas Eve Party is open to all Columbus Crew fans and supporters and we’ll have Nordecke membership packages available for pick up and purchase at the party as always. A special thanks to Fourth Street Bar & Grill as always for hosting us these past 7 years and we look forward to the next 10.
Crewsmas Morning at Ruby Tuesday starting at 8am, Hudson Street and Gate 5 are hosting a pre-match bar get together and a march to the stadium. Event details HERE.
Crewsmas Morning Megatailgate beginning whenever Murders’ Row shows up. They are probably there right now. Although typically the tailgate begins 2.5 to 3 hrs before game time, so around 10am. The tailgate is open to all Crew supporters and visiting supporters of other teams. You can pick up and purchase Nordecke membership at the tailgate as well and if there are any tickets remaining day of the game they will be available for first come first serve at the ticket tent. Food wise the Ole Farts are back for the annual Crewsmas Chili cook-off. They will be doing 3 or 4 kinds of Chili (there will be a vegetarian choice with the chili). If you have a favorite recipe you want to share, bring it along, the more the merrier. As always any sides are welcome but not a requirement to come over and enjoy the food. For drinks, Murders’ Row will have a keg of Endeavor brew on hand and there will probably be several other local brewers on hand to grab a beer from such as Land Grant and North High. You will of course find several supporters around the tailgate willing to share and trade their beer stock as well. So grab some friends, come on over to the tailgate, share a beverage or three with friends old and new.
