ORLANDO CITY SC vs COLUMBUS CREW SC

By: Joe Ziadeh

Alright Crew SC supporters, we came out of Mapfre Stadium with 3 more points last Saturday with a 2-0 victory.  This is the Crew’s third straight win and brings their record to 3-1-1 for 10 points, top spot in the East, and tied on top of the table!

Orlando City SC came into Columbus with the intent of continuing to be MLS’s only remaining unbeaten side.  Our boys in Black and Gold put a halt to that with a dominating performance in central midfield from our captain Wil Trapp and Brazilian Artur.  The tandem helped prevent Orlando’s Cyle Larin and Carlos Rivas from getting possession in dangerous areas.  Both Crew SC goals were scored by Justin Meram off assists from Pipa and Artur.  Merem is now tied with Forward Ola Kamara for the team lead with 3 goals a piece.  Zack Steffan and a strong backline lead by homegrown rookie Alex Crognale held Orlando scoreless for the shut out.  All I can say, as a crew supporter is it feels GREAT to come out of our home stand with 2 straight wins.

Next week we are on the road to Bridgeview, Illinois (Sh!tcago) to take on the Fire at 2pm EST.  Columbus will attempt to shut down newly acquired DP Bastian Schweinsteiger and dangerous winger David Accam.   Check out NorOnTour.com forum if you’re looking for people to carpool with.  Away tickets are available through this link.  Come help us cheer on our Crew at Toyota Park!  If you choose not to travel, check out one of the SGs away watch parties.  You can find Crew Union at 4th Street Bar and Grill, Hudson Street at Hendocs Pub, and Murder’s Row at Zauber Brewing.
